Gerardo is an editorial photographer based in Toronto. He has a career in photography spanning over 20 years and has showcased several collections of work in Uruguay, Canada and the United States.Gerardo was trained in photography and photojournalism at FotoClub Uruguayo in Montevideo from 1990 to 1995. During this time, he held four exhibitions at various art galleries. He also worked as staff photographer for several newspapers in Uruguay, including La Republica and El Pais. Gerardo continued working in photojournalism in Atlanta, GA. His photographs were extensively featured in Latin magazines Estadio, Tiempo Libre, and Comercio. As a freelance artist, Gerardo gained praise for his collection entitled Tango Night a photo exhibition portraying dance students, at the Callanwolde Art Centre.
In 2011, Gerardo won an international photography contest organized by the organization Labourstart. His award- winning photographs became part of a permanent exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg, Manitoba. |
